Welcome to the FGM/C educator toolkit. This toolkit is for anyone working or interacting with students at school, including teachers, counselors, principals, nurses, and other school personnel. We hope this toolkit will help you understand the motivations behind the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), how to help students at risk of FGM/C, and what resources to offer students who had undergone it.

We encourage nurses to review this Educator Toolkit and the Health Care Provider Toolkit. Nurses would be better able to support their students if they are familiar with the mental and physical health effects of FGM/C, how to screen for FGM/C and how to discuss in a sensitive manner the symptoms of FGM/C.
